What makes an inventive game?
That’s a journey I’ve been on for as long as I can remember. I love playing games across every imaginable medium to find the ones with the most interesting combination of art, mechanics and gameplay.
Curate.Games is a place for what I think are the most interesting discussions about games, with a slightly-but-not-too-pretentious twinge.
Who am I?
I’m a software engineer by trade with lots of experience playing and recommending games. I love finding the right game for the right group in the right moment.
I studied game design history in college, from the explosion of Pokemon in the early 2000s, to the New Games Movement in the 1970s/1980s and even the growth of game design studies in higher education.
What to expect when you subscribe
One essay, every Friday morning, delivered to your inbox talking about a recent game I’ve been playing, and some thoughts on the trends it connects to and other similar games or ideas.
Why I Write
The goal of my writing is to create an enjoyable space for people who aren’t completely immersed in gaming to learn about games and game design, to experiment with visual explanations of game design, and to explore my own small attempts at game design.
