The theme of this month is… nerdy game shows. One of the cooler things in the last few years has been game shows getting more… game like? The Traitors is easily the best example of this. Real life werewolf or mafia where the show is about the actual game.
Parlor Room on Dropout TV
I really loved Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop series. I’m really excited something like this is coming back and Becca Scott seems like a perfect fit. Dropout TV continues to find niches and produce great tv to fill it.
Blue Prince
People are absolutely gushing about this game which seems… maybe overwhelming but also so intriguing. It’s a roguelike mixed with a puzzle game, where you get to pick the rooms that you open and thereby change the way the house unfolds for you. Phrases like “Game of the Year” or “One of the best puzzle games of all time” are being thrown around already. Definitely excited about this one.
CMYK Games and… CBS?
CMYK Games sure seems like it’s on a tear recently. They seem to really be ramping things up this year with their Magenta Line, forthcoming Magical Athlete, and now… this? Part of me is nervous about if they’re going to scale so far so fast that they’ll lose the magic that made them special. The other part? More game focused game shows please! This could be really neat and expose more people to the wonders of expertly designed games.
“The Perfect Line” has a fun and easy play along format with a new, visual take on trivia. Contestants will play a series of games where they test their knowledge by arranging events, items, or people in the correct order to create “the perfect line.” Each round contestants are eliminated, leaving the last person standing to play the final round for a grand prize. The format will offer a broad range of topics from world events, to pop culture moments, to sports upsets, to groundbreaking innovations. “The Perfect Line” is hosted by well known journalist Deborah Norville, anchor of the #1 daily syndicated newsmagazine “Inside Edition.”
“The Perfect Line” is distributed by CBS Media Ventures, with Michael Binkow serving as Executive Producer and Chana Shwadlenak as Co-Executive Producer. Jon Barinhotz, Robert Belushi, Justin Vickers and Alex Hague serve as Executive Producers. “The Perfect Line” is based on a soon-to-be released boardgame by CMYK.
That’s All For Now!
Let me know what you think of this format and I might try it out more often!
